MoonSlate Privacy Policy

Effective date: 20 October 2026

Who we are

MoonSlate is a note-taking app by Sirat Labs (siratlabs.dev). Questions about this policy: support.moonslate@siratlabs.dev.

What the app stores

MoonSlate stores your notes, folders, settings and note images on your phone, in the app's private storage, and by default nowhere else. We run no servers for MoonSlate and do not collect your notes.

What the app does not do

We collect no notes, no analytics, no advertising data and no crash data. MoonSlate has no account with Sirat Labs, and it does not send your notes anywhere unless you turn on Google Drive backup. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties.

Google Drive backup (optional)

Signing in with Google happens only from Settings, and only if you choose it. If you do, MoonSlate can access your Google account email and name, to show which account is connected, and your Google Drive with the drive.file permission, which lets it see only the files it created itself.

  • Your notes are saved as markdown files, with their images, in a folder called MoonSlate in your Google Drive. Inside it are the folders Trash and Attachments.
  • The data goes straight from your phone to Google. Sirat Labs never receives it.
  • You can sign out any time in Settings. Signing out keeps your notes on your phone.
  • Google's handling of your data is covered byGoogle's privacy policy.

Android backup

Android's own backup may copy MoonSlate's notes database and settings (not note images) to your own Google account, following your phone's system backup settings. That backup is under Google's control.

Google API Services User Data Policy

MoonSlate's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Permissions

  • Internet: used for the optional Google Drive backup.
  • Biometrics and screen lock: used by the optional app lock. Android checks your fingerprint or screen lock; MoonSlate never sees or stores it.

Note images come from the Android photo picker or your camera app, so MoonSlate doesn't ask for camera or storage access.

Your choices

  • Export all your notes any time as a .zip of markdown files (Settings › Export all notes).
  • Delete notes in the app. Deleting MoonSlate deletes the notes and data stored on your phone.
  • Sign out of Google Drive backup in Settings.
  • Remove MoonSlate's access in your Google Account settings, and delete the MoonSlate folder in Drive if you no longer want the files.

Step-by-step instructions: Delete your MoonSlate data.
